Abstract

While Europe seems to be standing on the sidelines, China and the United States have been engaged in a fierce ecological competition. Although the EU's role in global geopolitics—especially when it comes to issues of climate change and infrastructure, through projects like the Global Gateway Initiative—cannot be discounted, China has emerged as a global climate leader by implementing a green vision for the Belt and Road Initiative. Should the EU consider replacing potential competition with future collaboration?
